Hi friends,
My last experience in donating blood in one of the mobile drives:
I went thru the medical examination/ tests. When the medical officer i/c asked me if i had taken any drugs recently - i casually mentioned abt me taking PANADOL EXTRA to get rid of my tension headache the earlier evening. Though, my blood group was a very rare group (A neg) , the doctor was helpless and advised me to come back after few weeks for donating if i am interested ( and also mentioned that the bank was in urgent need of my group blood supply ).
I returned back to the next mobile drive a week later and met the same medical officer. He recognised me and thanked me for donating.
I have donated close to 12 times in India and my father ( veteran in blood donation ) has donated more than 50 times and was also recognised by Lions club for his service - But never knew the fact that Paracetamol remains in the blood for 3 days and makes our blood unsuitable for donation.
Rgds
