I suffer from mild eczema so have rashes ocuring every now and then. Takes steriods only as a last resort when the wounds are not healing. So when I'm having a flare up of rashes/eczema but not on steriods, can I still donate blood? Mostly my rashes are on my arms..scared that they will reject me. It's a spread of clustered tiny red dots stretching between 10cm-15cm most of the time.

Rashes most likely flare up when I eat something that I'm not supposed to. But I really have no idea what I'm reacting to as I'm a vegetarian and I avoid peanuts.

BTW, are the iron tablets given after a donation suitable for vegetarians? Truth be told, I never took the tablets before..=X

You can donate 1 week after complete healing.

The new type of iron tablet contains gelatin. If you are a vegetarian, ask for the vegetarian type.

I read that evening primrose oil and coconut oil helps to cure eczema. maybe you can try that.

Ya I heard about the evening primrose part too. But my affected areas are lips/lips contour, palms and soles. Weird places. Hahas. But I'm too lazy to use oils to massage and wait for it to be absorbed..oily fingers and feet. =X Stick to moisturizing.

I am suggesting to take the oil instead of massage to absorb through skin.

Taking healthy oil such as evening primrose oil, flax seed oil, hemp seed oil, olive oil and coconut oil can help to improve the skin, normalise your weight, increase your energy level and help to absorb fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

Why do we need Essential Fats?
Produce beautiful skin, hair, and nails. Some of the first signs of EFA deficiency are dry, flaky skin, dull hair, and brittle nails. N-3s can help skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Also, GLA (n-6 derivative) administration is useful for some patients with atopic eczema.

As a vegetarian, you can take flax seed or hemp seed oil to get your omega 3.

Oh I see! Ok, I shall enquire at the store about the 'oils' to take. Thanks so so much!
