Hi! I'm new to this forum. I wish to donate blood, but recently found out that I have this condition: Alopecia areata. With this condition, can I still donate? How about donating plasma or platelets?

Welcome :)
If you are not taking any drug or herb, you should be able to donate. To confirm, you can call the blood bank at 62130626

Oh thanks, cos I read that persons with autoimmune dieases are advised not to donate, while my condition is an autoimmune disorder. So just need some clarifications. Thanks anyway.

For Alopeica Araeta, Donors with this condition can continue to donate blood if they are only on topical (application) treatment, such as steriod creams, medicated shampoo, etc.
However those on systemic (oral) steriods or other types of oral medication to treat the Alopecia Araeta, should refrain from blood donation until they are taken off oral medication by their physician.
