c. Each time before one donate, a simple health check by the blood bank is done. This provides some warning, say for instance, if one's blood pressure is getting too high.
d. Cause and effect. You save people lives by giving blood. You will be blessed with good health and body either in this life or future life, if you believe in the law of cause and effect. Or suppose if your destiny is to have a major surgery due to an accident. After donating blood regularly, this accident might be resolved and not happen.
e. New blood cells are regenerated. Some claims it keep you young that way.
After donating regularly for 12 years, donating 101 times at blood bank and about 60 times at SGH, this year i feel my health improving drastically. when i was 18 years old, i could do 18 chin ups. now at the age of 34, i can do 25 chin ups. i feel so energetic.
on the surface, it is due to me taking a good supplement for the past 4 months. however, the root cause could be the blood donation that enables me to encounter the good supplement and to take it for 4 months.
2.Are there any disadvantages?
You need time and committment. You will not be able to do strenous exercise on the day of donation. You might not be at your physical peak performance for the next 3 days.
3.Any gain by blood donation now or in future?
No weight gain. In long term, you might become more generous, loving, and patient.
"In every act of spiritual training, all the six perfections can be practiced simultaneously. For example, when we are giving a gift, the aspect of giving with a generous mind is the giving. Giving the best and useful material with proper conduct is discipline. Not being irritated by being asked for more or by the hardship of providing the gift is patience. Giving consistently while ignoring difficulties and exhaustion is diligence. Concentrating on the giving without distraction is contemplation. Giving without grasping at the self of giving, giver and the objects of giving is wisdom." Tulku Thondup Rinpoche
4.My friends are told that Once if we start to donate the blood,we should do it continuously and there is a chance for health may weak in case of discontinue the donation. How to clarify this statement?
How about change the word to exercise and see whether it makes sense?
Once if we start to "exercise", we should do it continuously and there is a chance for health may weak in case of discontinue the "exercise". Does it make sense?
If it does not make sense for exercise, then it does not make sense for blood donation. Blood donation is like exercise. Exercise the body to regenerate new blood cells.
5.Friends are telling there is some side effects by blood donation and we need to maintain good diet to avoid the side effects. Please advice.
We need to maintain good diet for good health anyway. After blood donation, it is good to eat a nutritious diet to recuperate faster. Need to drink more water and avoid heaty or fried food.
We know our own body. If we have not rested or slept well the night before, or just don't feel good, it is best not to donate that day.
I know of people who fall sick after blood donation. If this happens repeatedly, it is better to examine one's health and rest for a few months and lengthen the interval between donations. Say for instance, donate blood 2 times a year instead of 4 times a year.
6.Is there any difference between the old and the replaced blood which is after donation?
No difference.
7.How is the replacing of blood is happening?
It is reproduced by our bone marrow. See

8.After donate the blood,Can I get any report from the blood collectors about my donation? For example type and quality of my blood and suitable for blood donation.
Your blood type does not change and you can find out your blood type from the blood bank. There is no classification of good quality blood and low quality blood, except by visual. People who ate unhealthy fatty food before the donation have milky blood wherease people who ate healthy food have clear blood.
Your suitability for blood donation will be assessed by the doctor and your hemoglobin level before the donation. If you are donating platelets, you can request your past hemoglobin record and platelet count from the nurse at the apheresis suite.
9.As a blood donar, can I get any help from blood bank in case of my emergency situation?
Blood is used to save lives and the one needing it most in an emergency, regardless of his status, will be given the blood transfusion first.
In non-emergency situation, hospitals do give priority to blood donors requiring blood transfusion, if they produce the blood donation card.
10.How can I know whether I am suitable for next donation?
You will be given a health assessment (http://www.hsa.gov.sg/publish/hsaportal/en/health_services/blood_donation/can_i_donate/health_assessment.html) before you give blood.
If you have made a donation before and would like to make another one now, please check that sufficient time has elapsed (http://www.hsa.gov.sg/publish/hsaportal/en/health_services/blood_donation/can_i_donate/donation_interval.html) between your last donation and your next one.
