Hi all,
I'd like to discuss more about donor eligibility for HSA, especially regarding those who had paid for sexual services before.
As far as i understand, HIV spread can be contained by practicing safe sex. That is to say, using condoms for any sexual intercourse, which includes penetration, oral and anal penetration as well. As long as the condom does not break, it should be safe.
However, i heard that french kissing and breast sucking may carry potential risk of HIV transmission, even if it's rather rare. Oral transmission may happen if the sex worker has ulcers or open wound that secrete blood in his/her mouth, as well as breast if it lactates.
I've got a few questions on these that i'd like to clarify, however, and i hope i can clear some of my doubts.
1. If a person does not engage in penetrative sex acts with a sex worker, rather restricting it to french kissing and oral penetration with condom, will such person be still considered safe for donation?
2. what is the maximum number of allowed multiple sex contacts for a person to be still considered legible for donor, in the event he practises safe sex?
3. People at risk are recommended to stay away from donation for 1 year, is there any faster window period? if i am not mistaken, HIV only has 3-month window period.
4. Is safe sex practice ( using condom) will protect us fully from HIV exposure?
As for now, these questions are all that i have in mind. I'd be grateful if i can receive good and speedy feedbacks.
