If we are to donate blood, why are the doctors insisting that we should not take Antibiotics or Paracetamol atleast for 1 day?
Medicines are supposed to clean our blood from harmful viruses isnt it? So taking antibiotics should assert a healthy "clean" blood devoid of any viruses. Isnt it so?

hi ram,

Any capsule or tablet gets dissolved directly and its presence is no more seen in blood, even though blood carries it to the part where it is needed. But antibiotics like Paracetamol stays for few days in blood to give stability to body to fight against future attack of infection.

In medical science any antibiotic for an ailment is good only for that disease and the same is disastrous to another ailment. We can imagine what will happen if any one takes blood with some antibiotic, when he does not need that particular antibiotic ? He is in danger because of unwanted antibiotic present in his blood will become enemy and start destroying him.

to be more specific, i took an antibiotic, Doxycycline, for 2 months. How long do I need to wait before I go for my next blood donation?

since it is an antibiotic, does it mean that i can only donate blood 1 week After i finish the medication?

thanks for your help! :D
