From my research and/or experience, you can donate at the following places:

HSA blood bank: whole blood, plasma, platelets
SGH Blk 7 level 2: Platelets
NUH blood bank: whole blood, plasma, platelets

Donations at SGH are not recorded in the database at HSA. Database at NUH is linked to HSA so that if one donates at NUH, the donation is counted as if it is donated at HSA. if one cannot get an appointment on saturday at the blood bank at HSA, one can try NUH.

One thing differs is the frequency of donation for platelets. At HSA and NUH, one can donate at 4 weeks interval.

At SGH, one can donate 24 times a year.

Hi,

you can donate blood at many more places in addition to the ones you have discovered.

These drives are called community bloodmobiles and the complete list can be found at its official website http://www.donorweb.org/mobiles/

The information here is updated directly by the Singapore Redcross Blood Donor Recruitment Program staff on a regular basis, so do visit often.

Thanks krishnan. what i posted is the permanent ones. If one wants to donate plasma or platelets, still have to go to HSA, SGH or NUH.

Hello,

I am a new comer. To what I know, blood donated at the Bloodbank at HSA is distributed to all hospitals according to the needs of the patients. Blood donated at NUH or SCH is only for their patients. If you ask me, since blood donation is voluntary, it should go to everybody.

True. One can still be a general donor at SGH and NUH without specifying who to donate to. The hospital will decide. i don't see much difference if one donates at HSA. It will still be given to a patient who needs it. One bag of blood donated at HSA cannot be given to all hospitals. It will still be given to one hospital.

I have a question! Is it compulsory to make an appointment for weekends for HSA?

For whole blood donation, it is not compulsory. However, if you make appointment, you don't have to wait to see the doctor and take the blood test. The waiting time on Sat 22 Mar 08 is one hour. You can call blood bank in advance to book appointment or book online using your Singpass.

For apheresis donation on weekend, it is better to make appointment. Else may not be able to donate as Sat appointment is usually fulled booked. If want to walk in on Sat for aphersis donation, can try around 2 to 3pm.
