Wheatgrass, spirulina and chlorella are superfood that are rich in Chlorophyll that helps rebuild the blood.

Chlorophyll in wheatgrass rebuilds the bloodstream. Studies have shown that the red cell count was returned to normal within 4 to 5 days of the administration of chlorophyll, even in those animals which were known to be extremely anemic or low in red cell count.

Hemoglobin is the protein in our red blood cells which binds with oxygen and gives blood its bright red color. Chlorophyll cells are nearly identical to hemoglobin, with one exception: Chlorophyll has a magnesium molecule at its center while hemoglobin has an iron molecule at the center of it.
This is important because magnesium is essential for the heart to function properly. Every time our heart beats, it is utilizing magnesium to do so.
Chlorophyll is effective against anemia and stimulates the production of red blood cells in the body.

Clinical experiences of administration of spirulina to patients with hupochronic anemia. by T. Takeuchi, et al. 1978. Tokyo Medical and Dental Univ. Japan.
Eight women had been limiting their meals to stay thin and were showing hypochronic anemia - lower than normal blood hemoglobin content. They took four grams of spirulina after each meal. After 30 days blood hemoglobin content increased 21% from 10.9 to 13.2, a satisfactory level, no longer considered anemic.

Availability of iron to rats from spirulina, a blue-green algae.
by P. Johnson and E. Shubert. 1986. Pub. in Nutrition Research Vol 6, 85-94. USA.
Spirulina contains a highly available form of of iron. It is unusual to find plant-derived iron that is highly available. Absorption of iron by rats and humans has been found to be highly correlated. Spirulina fed rats absorbed iron more than or equal to rats fed iron from an iron supplement, ferrous sulfate. In comparison, absorption of iron from potatoes and whole wheat bread is about half of ferrous sulfate. It appears spirulina is a fairly concentrated source of available iron.

Molasses is also rich in iron.

There are also chinese patent medicine good for replenishing the blood.

Shen Qi Da Bu Wan: This is a very simple formula to revive the vital energy (Qi) after blood loss. It is an excellent tonic that increases red and white blood cell count.
Recommended manfacturer/brand: Lanzhou Foci

Nu Ke Ba Zhen Wan; Women's Precious Pills, also known as Eight Treasures: This is the classic formula for deficiency of Qi and blood. While this condition also occurs in men, it is especially common in women, since they lose blood on a monthly basis during their menstrual cycle. This formual is an exceptionally effective way to restore normal blood counts.

Fruits are cleansers while vegetables are builders. after blood donation, it is good to drink raw vegetable juice, especially that of carrot and beet root.

Can try to blend the following in a blender

Serving for 1 person:

1 apple
1 carrot
1 beet root

it is known as the ABC formula :D the main ingredient is beet root and the apple is to improve the absorption.

Anemia
Red beet juice is associated with human blood and blood forming qualities. Due to its higher content of iron, it regenerates and reactivates the red blood cells, supplies fresh oxygen to the body and helps the normal function of vesicular breathing i.e. normal breath sound. It is thus extremely useful in the treatment of anemia.

According to Dr. Fritz Keitel of Germany, "The juice of the red beet strengthens the body's powers of resistance and has proved to be an excellent remedy for anemia, especially for children and teenagers where other blood forming remedies have failed"

Apheresis donors can take coconut water as replenishment. The refreshment counter at blood bank should provide coconuts :D

Here is some information about Coconut Water:

"It's a natural isotonic beverage, with the same level of electrolytic balance as we have in our blood. It's the fluid of life, so to speak." In fact, during the Pacific War of 1941-45, both sides in the conflict regularly used coconut water - siphoned directly from the nut - to give emergency plasma trasfusions to wounded soldiers.

Coconut water is identical to human blood plasma which makes it the universal donor. Plasma makes up 55% of human blood. By drinking coconuts we give ourselves a instant blood transfusion.

"Clear coconut water is one of the highest sources of electrolytes found in nature. Young coconut water is identical to human blood plasma, making it the universal donor. Plasma makes up 55 percent of human blood. The remaining 45 percent consist of hemoglobin, which is essentially transformed plant blood, chlorophyll.

This means "when we consume a drink consisting of 55 percent coconut water and 45 percent fresh green-leaf juice we give ourselves an instant blood transfusion."
